Career

Hello...today I`m going to talk about the career thay I`m studying: Anthropology. I'm doing my first year but I should be on second since I decided to quit last year. Anyway, I decided to study this career because I'm interested in knowing different aspects of human being and I thing this career allows me to do that. I see this science as a very useful and complete one. It has three areas of study: social anthropology, archaeology and physical anthropology
It helps people to undestand their culture in different time and space, for example archaeology focuses in past cultures by studying their remains. Anthropology answers questions like: why people act differently from others? What do they have in common? How can they change their ways of living?
Some people don't notice how helpful are these kind of studies to society and they reject social sciences, but according to my opinion I thing that their contribution can be huge.
In the next few years I will have to make use of different theories, techniques such as participant observation, and methodologies in order to make a solid and valid job.
Although I don`t know much about it, if you ask me which is my favourite subject I would say something related to medicine. It would be great if I can contribute not only in terms of theory but also in practicals: helping people to improve health issues.

A photo that I like

Hi everyone! First of all I have to say that I love photography, specially black and white. I remember that a few years ago I liked to print photos in black and white and then draw them using graphito pencils. It was not very easy to do it but at the end, when I saw the product, I felt very well. 

I hope to take, at least once in my life, a photography lesson. It would be great :)

Well,  this photo was taken in 2008 during my summer vacation. I don't remember very well if nobody took it because I chose the self-timer device or if my father did it. Anyway, the picture shows the Milodon cave, that is located in Puerto Natales.  From right to left: me, Milodon, a big animal -fake representation- and my cousin . At the beggining I was going to choose another photo but I saw this one and I liked it more. It reminds me that I had a really good time during that trip, Milodon cave is wonderful: it´s a big dark place, full of nooks and crannies, where it's easy to get lost on a few minutes. I would love to come back and I suggest everyone to visit it, but not only this place:  XII region is enterily beautiful!.

Career Related Website

Hi there! Today I`m going to talk about my favourite career related website. As I said in my first post I`m studying anthropology, so the website that I have chosen is related to one of the topic that this discipline studies: medicine. The website is http://medanthro.net/ and I found it three years ago after a conversation that I had with my cousin, who is studying medicine. I hadn`t heard about medical anthropology before and I have always been interested in health issues and doctor- patient relationship , so I searched in google and I found this website that is very complete. That's why I like it, because it has a lot of information and if you don't know much about the topic you can be informed very quickly. I have printed different articles, but some of them I haven't understood them very well.
Last year I visited medanthro a lot, but nowadays I haven't done it too much.

My favourite piece of technology

My favourite piece of technology is my pendrive. I got it last year (I used to have a discman but I lost it) and since then it has been very useful. I use it for two different things: saving documents and listening to music. The advantage is that I can listen music from the radio and also mp3 that I donwload from the Internet, so I can choose the music I like and change it evertytime I want. With the discman I couldn't change the music so easily because I had to make a cd everytime I wanted to listen new songs. Nowadays I only have to connect the pendrive to a computer and, besides it charges the battery, I can add or delete songs.

Another good thing is that because its size and weight I can take it everywhere. The discman was too big to put it in my poket =(.

Everyday I use my pendrive when I am going to university or when I am on my way home.It makes my travel nicer so it would be totally different if I hadn't had it.

about myself

Hi! My name is Carolina. This is the first time I have a blog so it is not common for me to write and to other people see what I write, but I think that it will be useful in order to improve my english writing =).
Well, about myself : I`m 19 years old and I´m studying anthropology. I love watching movies, listening to music and playing any kind of sport, specially basketball and tennis. I play these sports since I was 6 years old.
Another thing that I like to do very much is reading and drawing.
